When Teddy was first born, I kept saying I wanted to buy him a gym but my mum kept telling me he won't need one and to not waste my money as he won't use it. When he started to kick around, I decided I was going to get him one and saw the Fisher Price Kick and Play Piano gym. This is quite possibly the BEST product I've bought Teddy to date! He has used it everyday for hours since I purchased it.
Teddy started kicking his legs hard around 2 and half months, so I started looking into all sorts of gyms and bouncers for him. I've decided against bouncers, so started looking for a gym. At first I was just looking into "normal" playmats, such as the
Teddy toy box, but then I saw the
Fisher Price Kick and Play Piano gym in Boots. This had everything and more I was looking for, and I knew it was the one!

I like how as well as a playmat, it can be used for tummy time. You're able to move the toys from the bar above the mat to around the front of the mat for tummy time. I've tried this with Teddy and he enjoyed it for 5 minutes, but as he hates being on his tummy, he started to cry so I moved all the toys back to the bar and let him play how he wanted. The piano is also detachable so as Teddy gets older, he is able to take the piano on the go. I thought this was a great idea as he isn't restricted to playing on the mat when he wants to play with the piano. When he is able to sit unaided, I will detach the piano then for him to play with, but for the time being he enjoys kicking against it! Apart from being detachable, the piano has 2 settings. 1 plays continuous nursery rhymes, which I constantly hum to myself during the day, and the other plays the typical piano noises. When Teddy kicks the piano whilst on the piano noises, it'll make the typical sound and then as soon as he stops a tune will play. I like this as it encourages him to kick again. There are also 2 volume settings which I like. I always have it on the lower setting as it's loud enough for him to hear it but not too loud that I can't hear it over everything else. The louder setting is great but a little too loud in my opinion.
With all the great things about this product, I have got a couple things I'd change, but they're only minor things and it doesn't affect my overall rating of the product. It comes with 4 toys for Teddy to play with, 2 of which make noises when played with. I personally would love it if it came with more toys to chop and change with. More sensory toys such as a light up toy or a different textured toy. One toy is a different texture as it's fabric but I would prefer something else. Another thing I would change, and this is mainly because I'm picky, but I'd love it if it was available in other patterns. It comes as a jungle pattern which I like, but I'm not a big fan of big, bright patterns and would like a more neutral colour/pattern. It does come in pink for girls which I thought is nice, but I'd still prefer the option of a neutral pattern.

When I picked up the Kick and Play Piano, it was on offer for £29.99. I was amazed at the price, although I didn't buy it straight away. I decided I would have a look around and then go back for it but completely forgot. I went back a couple days later and picked it up, along with some other items which made my total to just over £35. I had a voucher of £5 off if I spent over a certain amount so used that and it brought the total down to just over £31. When I checked the receipt, the Kick and Play had been brought down to £24.99 so I was winning! The original price is £39.99 which I still think is very reasonable as we've got a lot of use out of it and I would have happily paid that for it. I'm not sure when it'll next be on offer in boots, but keep an eye out. If you can't wait then I would recommend buying it ASAP!
